The Jack Russell Terrier Club of Canada National Trial was held in Paris, Ontario this year and since I was one of trial chairs, I was not able to show any dogs owned by me. Our kennel was still well represented as Cairnbrae Terriers owned by other exhibitors certainly made us proud!
Cairnbrae Rubicon owned by Mal & Ursula McEwen started off the weekend by winning Working Terrier Champion on Saturday over Michelle Ward's lovely bitch Little Eden Sequel. Judge David Jones considered this placing for a long time before giving Rubicon the nod. Congratulations Mal & Ursula, Ruby looked awesome!!
Cairnbrae Hunter owned by John & Vianne Ninness wasted no time winning the Adult Terrier Reserve Barn Hunt title on Saturday. Good boy, Hunter!
Cairnbrae Spider owned by Sue Godbehere was Reserve Best in the Tall Terrier Super Earth competition on Saturday and rounded out a wonderful weekend by winning Reserve High in Trial for Agility I. Way to go Spider!
We owe so much to these wonderful people who put such effort into bringing out the best in their terriers in whatever events they enjoy. Thank you so much for helping your Cairnbrae Terriers be the best they can be!

The 2009 JRTCA National Trial in Havre de Grace, Maryland was quite an adventure this year to say the least! We drove through rain and snow to discover that a Nor Easter with record low temperatures was being predicted for the whole weekend. Well, that prediction was right on the money but we terrier folk are tough and the show must go on, so we made the best of very uncomfortable and muddy conditions to exhibit our terriers. Despite the weather, Cairnbrae terriers had an amazing weekend and I can't tell you how proud I am of them all.
Cairnbrae Rubicon owned by Mal & Ursula McEwen thrilled me to no end by taking the Working Terrier Champion award!! When all the dust had settled in the Working Division (although it was mud this year) Rubicon was awarded the highest honour over Michelle Ward's lovely bitch, Little Eden Sequel ... a repeat of the placings for our Canadian National Trial just a month previous!!! What a great team Ursula and Ruby are!! Thank you so much Ursula & Mal for allowing Ruby to reach her potential in the show ring and the hunt field time after time.
We are also proud to mention that Cairnbrae Torch won her Veteran Working Bitch class and accompanied by her daughter Bewitch and her granddaughter Minx, placed second in the Three Generation class.
Cairnbrae Scuffle shown by Bob Boyd placed second in a good sized rough/broken Puppy class and didn't appear the least bit worried about weather. Thanks for handling this little live wire for me Bob!
The JRTCA National Trial is always a wonderful opportunity to get together with our terrier friends from across North America and see a multitude of lovely terriers and this year was no exception.
